It's a new year! Woo! Anyway, it's a bit overdue for an update (not like anyone really cares), but here's one anyway.

Whenever it was last I did an update, I mentioned a "low-profile PC". Due to many technicalities (difficulties in sourcing parts & dodgy cases), I've put the project on hold. I've been physically been unable to complete it due to tendon & nerve issues in my right arm. Things are getting better and plan on eventually completing that build sometime this year. Hopefully..

In other news, I've been exploring more into music itself. Outside of the Interwebz, I'm an amateur trumpeter. I usually play in a couple of local bands, playing mostly jazz/swing, popular, and a bit of rock. Lately I've been experimenting with the world of guitar effect pedals, and using them with the trumpet to create some different tones. At the moment, I'm using a Boss VE-20 Vocal Processor (Vocal Performer). It has reverb, echo, delay, flanger, harmony, distortion, and radio effects, and has a basic looping feature built-in. I plan on using it for more live performances, as well as a few solo performances. Anything that I record will feature on my Soundcloud. I have a few tunes planned. Expect them to appear over the next few months.

Most important part now is... "Are you going to make more art?" Well, when I can, yes. I've got to fix a couple of PCs capable of rendering fractals (Operating system corruptions due to software incorrectly installing - takes a while to fix), but should be able to do so soon. I only uploaded one last year: Racing To The End. That image was entered in 2 local competitions: An annual art competition hosted by a "psychology association" at my university, and a new art competition for Mental Health awareness hosted by Headspace Cairns. I won first place in the categories I entered, in the "non-psychology" category at university, and "Over 18's" category at the Headspace competition. The actual framed art is now hanging off one of their walls in their office. Not too shabby, indeed.

This year will be a busy year for me, so I will be uploading & posting whenever I can. Enjoy your day, all!

New Ventures...

2 min read
Hello all! I know it's been a very long time since I've done a journal update (over a year now), let alone uploaded any other images on here.

These days, I'm not so much involved with the creation of art (in terms of Fractal/digital art), and slowly getting involved in the realm of computing and more traditional art forms (drawing & painting).

I may not be the best at drawing & painting, but I'm trying to learn at the best of my abilities in terms of designing custom computer cases, as well as modifying them so that they are aesthetically pleasing.

I am currently in the process of modifying a low-profile computer case, so that high-end computer components can fit but still look beautiful in the process. This is planned to take me the next 18 months to complete this specific project. My only issue that is delaying my project is my current financial situation, and 'lack' of artistic drawing skills.

I have a few other plans in terms of customising computer cases, one of which is possibly building a case completely out of recycled hardwood. But as before, it's delayed due to a few issues that can't be ignored.

Yes, it may sound like a complete joke, but I am passionate in this field. And although I may be a newcomer, I hope to show what I have achieved within the next couple of years.

Have fun all!

New fractals!

2 min read
Hello all!

Recently I uploaded a couple of fractals online. They may not be too great, but I will eventually update the images to a better quality (eg: gamma, colour filter, etc.). The thing is that I only know how to do this with my Macbook, and that is currently being upgraded slowly (new RAM & storage alternatives (external RAID possibly). May also get an external screen for it as well (with either an LED TV, or a screen + mini projector (mounted under one of my shelves). I will sort out the most easiest & effective method eventually.

In the meantime, I have been really busy with my studies, and have been producing more fractals when I get a chance. But I would like to edit them effectively. So if I don't want to use my mac for editing, them I'm going to have to learn how to use Gimp again.

So hope you all have a good day/night & I'm off to do my studies (or to sleep - whichever catches up first).

Something off topic here: Every time I do one of these journal entries I will post one of my favourite songs of the week. I do listen to a lot of music per week, some classic tunes as well as well as some unheard ones as well. If you don't like it & want to complain about it, then I would suggest you keep it to yourself & just ignore what is down there. Makes us all happy!
I state all of the songs as <artist> - <song>. It's a standard method of stating songs & artists.

Hello everyone!

Sorry to all that have been anticipating a new image from me (highly doubt that though). But after a year (or two) break I am back to producing images! They still will be fractals, but a little different than my older ones.

I'm putting watermarks on ALL of my pictures these days. Recently, one of my fractals were floating around the internet & a few people were making money off it (none of which was coming back to me). So to prevent those from stealing it & claiming it as their own, I am now using dA watermarks on ALL images.

I require some assistance naming some of my new images. I'm not very good at naming things so if anyone has any suggestions on what it should be called, leave a comment at each image, and I may consider it.

Anyway, That's all I know of at this given moment in time & hope to be producing a few more spectacular images for you all this year!

Well I am still trying to find a way to showcase my art but I have come to a major problem. Due to my financial situation, I can no longer fund any attempt to approach a gallery, let alone make a suitable portfolio. It is either to survive with what I have got now or starve to attempt to accomplish anything that may not succeed. Due to sickness all I care about at the moment is my health and my studies at uni.

I have heard that there are many local artists that specialise in some amazing art but can never be able to showcase it due to the art community's views to digital art (I don't exactly know what they are - they refuse to tell me & give me bullshit about mine instead).

There seems to be a couple of art societies around my area that are trying to break these views but are having major difficulties with the local galleries. I have been invited to join one of them & hopefully (within a month) maybe I may be able to finance something to showcase my art.

There is something that does make me very angry about the views of my art. Many said that they liked it at the "Neurons Art Exhibition" at JCU Cairns, but it seems that someone may have liked it too much & have taken it. No one wants to take responsibility for the incident. It was taken 1 week before the images were removed & no one has misplaced it. It is not insured (as they recommended me to do so but I could not afford it) so it is gone forever. It does have my name, the date of print, the art expo that it was going to be at, & my signature. I am constantly searching ebay to make sure it hasn't popped up there yet but I have not heard anything from anyone... I spoke to the organisers about it & they told me that "I had removed it & they are not taking any responsibility for any damages. You chose to display it here, not us. Not our problem, It's your problem." Great way to make you feel good.....
